Ladakh is a very beautiful place filled with many different attractions and destinations
Some of these are natural, whereas some have historical or cultural significance
In this list of places to visit Leh that we have made, some of these places are just great for having fun and hanging out.
All the places mention in this list are on highly motorable roads, as there is a lot of road construction that has happened to connect Ladakh to the rest of India.
There is an increase in both the number of people and the number of cars (cabs in our case) travelling to these places.
Pangong lake
A place of true beauty. Made famous by the movie 3 Idiots and countless vlogs. It is surrounded by gigantic mountains on all sides.
The lake is actually 12 km long, which means that around 60% of it is actually in China, with the rest being in India.
In the summer months, the lake is like an ever-changing art piece, changing its colour from blue to red and green and even grey, depending on the time of day. In the winters, the lake totally freezes over.
There are a lot of activities that you can do near Pangong Lake. It is an ideal place for camping. It is also ideal for stargazing. There are a lot of camping and eating options, which means there is full convenience.
The amazing and unique thing about this lake is that the water is completely salty, which means that there is no animal or plant life in the water. This salty water attracts a lot of migratory birds in the winter.
Khardung-la Pass
Khardung-la pass is famously known as the highest motorable road in the world. It was opened in 1988, This pass is the Gateway for Nubra Valley. One of the best ways to experience the road to khardung-la pass and the pass itself is to rent a cruiser bike from one of the many such shops in Leh City and to have a day filled with mountain adventures.
Nubra Valley
This Valley is home to double humped Bactrian Camels. It has amazing views of the Karakoram range and the Siachen river.
There are a lot of homestays, cafés and hotels that have opened up in recent years. Another amazing thing that you shouldn’t miss are it’s white sand deserts.
Hemis National Park
It is the only National Park in India that is located in the upper reaches of the Himalayas. It is also home to one of the most elusive and famous animals on the planet, the snow leopard.
Royal Leh Palace
This relic of a past age is built completely of natural materials like mud, what I am stones. It is 9 stories high, and the location is simply stunning.
It has all the characteristics of Tibetan architecture that make it unique and take you back to another era.
Gurudwara Pathar Sahib
The region of Ladakh is famous for its Buddhist stupas and monks. That is why you may be surprised to know about this Gurdwara dedicated to the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak Dev.
The story behind is Gurdwara is very interesting. It is said that while the Guru meditating, a demon rolled a bolder on him from the top of the peak when he was meditating at the base of the mountain. However, when the rock hit the Guru, it became soft and did not cause any harm to Guru Nanak Dev.
Today, the story and tradition is kept alive by the Indian Army, which maintains this beautiful Gurudwara. The Langar served here is as tasty as it is healthy and brings life and vitality to the senses in these scenic and relaxing mountains.

How do I travel once I’m in Ladakh?
Apart from flights, the most common way of getting to Ladakh is by cab. Most travellers would prefer to travel around on the same taxi they have hired.
As we also provide cab services from Jammu to Ladakh and back, we would love to show you around these famous sites.
But due to local regulations in the Union Territory of Ladakh, any vehicle that is not registered in Ladakh is not allowed to travel in the area once you have reached Leh City.
That means you have to book a locally registered vehicle from one of the many transport service providers in Leh City. You can also choose to rent out motorbikes, or four wheeler of your choice.
